Deputy Chief Minister, Government of NCT of Delhi, Shri Manish Sisodia today awarded 30 people under the newly launched ‘Bill Banvao Inaam Pao scheme’ of the Department of Trade & Taxes, in a function organized by the Department of Trade and Tax at Delhi Secretariat. Shri Sisodia gave away cheques of the prized money and gift hampers to the 30 winners which included 16 winners got cash prizes of 5 times of their purchase, 14 others with gift hampers sponsored by various brands like Sagar Ratna, Pizza Hut, Bikaner wala, The Big Chill and Golden Dragon. In the month of January, many people got prize of more than Rs.10,000/- including Ms. Monica Rs.19,000/-, Mr. Prabhat Sharma Rs.16,372, Mr. Manoj Rs.14,522/- Ms. Divya Goel Rs.12,067. The prize winners were selected by draw of lots from the bills received under the scheme in the month of January 2016.

The function was presided over by Shri Shiv Charan Goel, Parliamentary Secretary to Finance Minister. Chief Secretary Delhi, Shri K K Sharma and Commissioner VAT, Shri S S Yadav were also present on the occasion.

Giving away the prize Shri Sisodia thanked all the people of Delhi for their enthusiastic participation in the scheme. He said that the scheme is an example of inclusive governance which has been adopted by Delhi Government. The people who have participated in the scheme have done great service to Delhi. It is also an expression of their patriotism and concern for the country. He also congratulated the winners present. He appreciated the efforts of the department in successfully implementing this innovative scheme.

Shri S S Yadav, Commissioner VAT, congratulated the prize winners and also thanked of the people who participated in the scheme in the month of January by uploaded their bills. Through the bills uploaded, the department has been able to catch 44 traders who are issuing bills on the cancelled TIN and thus were evading 100% tax. Many other traders were also found indulging in malpractices and tax evasion have been identified, he told.

The scheme has received very warm response from the people of Delhi. In the month of January itself, within 13 days of its launch, more than 10,000 people have downloaded App and got registered. 4179 bills were received through the App. The uploading of bills continues unabated and over 4,000 bills have been received in the month of February, 2016 so far. The draw for lucky winners for the month of February, 2016 will be held in the Ist week of March, 2016.

Many prize winners spoke on the occasion and lauded the innovative scheme launched by Delhi. Expressing their happiness, they appealed to everyone to download the App and upload the bills which may not only get them the prize but will also help in ensuring that the VAT collected from them by the traders reaches the government and is used in development of Delhi.

Bill Banvao Inaam Pao scheme is an innovative scheme which was launched by Shri Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi on 18th January, 2016. This is supported by “DVATBILL” App which helps in uploading the bills. The App is available both at Google Play store and App store. The App can also be downloaded by giving missed call on 01125776903. Photograph and basic details of the bill are to be uploaded. Lucky draw is held every month and 1% of the bills received, get cash prize equal to 5 times of the amount of bill (excluding taxes), besides this, many others are given attractive gift hampers.
