Q1. What is IHBAS ?


Ans. IHBAS stands for Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences, which is an autonomous body providing tertiary level health care services in Psychiatry, Neurology and Behavioural Sciences.

Q2. Where is it situated ?
Ans. It is located at
Dilshad Garden, near UCMS & GTB Hospital in East Delhi.

Q3. What types of services are available in IHBAS ?
Ans. Free patient care services are available in following Disciplines-
a) Psychiatric services for mentally ill patients and drug Abusers.
b) Neurological services for nervous system disorders.
c) Clinical psychology for assessment of mental status, intelligence and marital counselling.
It also has a community mental health programme.


Q4. What are the OPD timings ?
Ans. All working days- New Registration- Monday to Friday=8.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and Saturday= 8.30 a.m to 11.00 a.m. Old Registration- Monday to Saturday = 8.30 a.m to 12.00 noon. The other clinics will run as usual(1.30 p.m to 3.00 pm).

Q6. What is the admission procedure ?
Ans. Patients are admitted voluntarily after assessment by the Institute's Doctors and through Court order.

Q7. Can relatives stay with the admitted patient?
Ans. Yes.

Q8. Are Ambulance facilities available?
Ans. Yes, for the inpatients of the hospital.

Q9. Is there a teaching or training programme?
Ans. Yes, the institute provides comprehensive training in Psychiatry, Neurology and Behavioural Sciences. It follows residency scheme of Govt. of India.

Q10. What are the Courses organized by the Institute?

Ans. Currently institute offers


i) MD Psychiatry course started from 2003 with Two students per year under the aegis of Delhi University. Now it has been increased to 08 students. The degree recognized by MCI.


Now the MD(Psychiatry) Seats have been increased from Four to Eight from the academic Year 2017-18.


ii) DM Neurology course started from 2008 with One candidate per year under the aegis of Delhi University.Now the seats have been increased to 3 candidates/per year from July, 2010 and degree recognized by MCI.


iii) M. Phil. (Clinical Psychology) course started from October 2004  under the aegis of Delhi University with 10  students  at present.The degree recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

                         

iv) DNB Neurology course has been suspended till further information.
