Deputy CM Manish Sisodia releases Estimates of State Domestic Product – 2016/17

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday released “Estimates of State Domestic Product – 2016-17” of Delhi brought out by the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi. The estimates have been prepared with the new base year 2011-12.

Mr Sisodia stated that the economy of Delhi is going forward on the path of sustainable growth in a considerable manner. He further stated that rank wise position of Delhi as per the estimates of GSDP is much better than some of the states such as Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Haryana and Odisha.

Mr Sisodia stated that the GSDP in Delhi at the current prices for the year 2016-17 is estimated at Rs 622385 crores against Rs 551963 crores in 2015-16, registering a growth of 12.76%. As regards the real growth in GSDP at constant prices in Delhi during 2016-17 is 8.26% as compared to 7.1% at the National Level. The contribution of Delhi in total GDP   (at current prices) at the National Level is 4.08% as compared to 1.4% share of Delhi in total population of the country.
The Per Capita Income of Delhi has been fast increasing year by year. It is expected to be  Rs 303073/- for the year 2016-17 against Rs 273618/- during 2015-16. This reveals annual growth of 10.76% over the previous year as against 10.2% at national level. Among all States/UTs, Delhi’s rank is 1st, while Goa at second with Rs 270150 /-and Chandigarh is stood at third position with    Rs 242386/-  Per Capita Income during 2015-16. The Per Capita Income of Delhi is nearly three times higher than the national average of Rs 103818/- for the year 2016-17.
Mr Sisodia added that the share of service sector in Delhi’s economy is about 82.26% followed by secondary sector at 14.84% and primary sector at 2.90%. The share of manufacturing sector is about 8.41%, construction sector 4.02%, trade hotels and restaurants is 11.69%, financial services is 14.83% and the maximum share of 29.81% is from the real estate, ownership of dwellings & professional services.
