Important decisions taken in the 18th DUSIB Board meeting, 6th February 2017

  • The 18th Board meeting of the Delhi Urban Shelter improvement Board (DUSIB) was held on Monday under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, Mr Arvind Kejriwal.  Following items were approved in the meeting :

1.      The Board approved the pilot project for in-situ up-gradation of slum on DUSIB land in Phase-II wherein 6178 EWS flats (S+14 storeyed) will be constructed at Lajpat Nagar, Bhalaswa, Dev Nagar, Mongol Puri & Ambedkar Nagar at a cost of Rs 866 crore.

2.      One of the important agenda about “Delhi Slum & Jhuggi Jhopari Rehabilitation  & Relocation Policy 2015”, which was earlier approved by Board on 11.4.2016 wherein Hon’ble L.G. Delhi agreeing to the policy but made observations with regard to rate to be charged from land owning agency. Board approved that Land owning agencies should be charged at government to government rates instead of circle rates for cost of land and the second issue was in case JJ Basti existing in land belonging  to Central Govt./agencies like Raiwaly, DDA, L&DO, Delhi Govt., NDMC etc., the respective agency may either carry out the relocation/rehabilitation themselves as per the policy of Delhi Govt. or may entrust the job to DUSIB.

3.      Supreme Court of India has constituted a committee under chairmanship of Justice Kailash Gambhir, retired Judge of the Delhi High Court to review the functioning of Night Shelters in Delhi. The committee while appreciating the efforts made by DUSIB asked to ensured adequate facilities for homeless in Delhi and also improving the condition of living of homeless people. In order to comply with the observations, DUSIB is providing 5000 bunker beds, 10000 mattresses along with bed sheet, blanket, pillow & pillow cover, LED, TV, water cooler, geysers etc. at a cost of Rs.5 Cr. to improve the quality of life in shelters for homeless.

4.      The Board also approved four new shelters for urban homeless under National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) at Dwarka, Geeta Colony, Rohini and Nangloi which will accommodate 72 families and 1200 homeless people.

5.      Board has also approved providing and laying CC pavements and Const. of drains at a cost of about Rs five crore in Punjabi Migrant relief Camp/Basti at Peera Garhi where no facility has been extended for last more than 25 years.

6.      Board also approved Const. of 582 EWS houses (414 (S+18), 168 (S+12) at Sangam Park under the scheme of in-situ rehabilitation of slum in Delhi at a cost of Rs. 83 Cr. The tenders for the same are being called shortly to take up the work on ground.
